Rick Ankiel's Mustache

FAYETTEVILLE - Mississippi State avoided a series sweep at Arkansas on Sunday but the Bulldogs will be without a starter for at least one upcoming game as a result.

And rightfully so.

Mississippi State Brent Brownlee was caught by TV cameras flipping off the crowd after the Bulldogs recorded the final out in the ninth inning. The junior had been playing in left field, where alcohol is permitted beyond the outfield wall. Not coincidentally, the crowd in the area is more vocal most games and had heckled Brownlee, like all other opposing left fielders, throughout the weekend.

Best fans in college baseball.

Yes, John Pelphrey has been fired.

No, I could not care less.

Mike Anderson would be fun and would be my next pick since Corliss Williamson isn’t quite ready just yet.

LOS ANGELES — Former USC quarterback Mitch Mustain was arrested late Tuesday night and held on a felony narcotics charge, Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson Bruce Borihanh confirmed Wednesday.

Bail was set at $30,000. Mustain has not paid bail and is still in jail, Borihanh said.

What? Mommy hasn’t bailed him out yet? Poor, poor baby.

8. Arkansas Razorbacks
The Razorbacks’ 31-26 loss to Ohio State in the Allstate Sugar Bowl was a deflating way to end a breakthrough season, but coach Bobby Petrino has built an SEC West contender after three seasons. Quarterback Ryan Mallett will be missed, but backup Tyler Wilson might be another NFL prospect waiting to take over. Most of the Hogs’ deep receiver corps will return, except for tight end D.J. Williams. Top receiver Greg Childs comes back after missing the last five games of the 2010 season with a knee injury, and tailback Knile Davis’ strong running really made the Hogs balanced on offense down the stretch. The Hogs made strides on defense this past season and might be even better after losing only three starters. Arkansas will play only four true road games — they play Texas A&M in Arlington, Texas — but they’ll have to play at Alabama and LSU during SEC play.

I can’t talk about this, yet.

Ryan Mallett to NFL

It’s been fun, but I’m excited for our future.

We want to be a top 10 team every year, our team believes that now. And the fan base has come together like no other I’ve seen.

I made the point that anything that could be done to preserve the integrity of this year’s game, we would greatly appreciate it. That appeal did not fall on deaf ears, and I’m extremely excited about it, that the Buckeyes are coming in at full strength and with no dilution.

Sugar Bowl CEO Paul Hoolahan

I’m glad we’re going up against a full team, but the NCAA has got to get their shit together. If the CEO of a corporation (bowl or not) can lobby for eligibility then the NCAA is just as corrupt as the players committing these “violations”.
