For those of you who can’t wait for MLB games to start, the Arkansas Razorbacks start their baseball season on Friday!
FAYETTEVILLE - After a preseason full of team and individual recognition, the University of Arkansas baseball team will open its 2010 season Feb. 19 against Ball State in the first of a three-game series at Baum Stadium. The season opener is set for a 3:05 p.m. first pitch with Saturday and Sunday’s game scheduled to start at 1:05 p.m. (Central Time)
Still riding the high of a run to last season’s College World Series, the Razorbacks have grabbed the attention of the nation’s pollsters. With the preseason release of the various polls, Arkansas is ranked as high as No. 15 by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) and Rivals.com. The USA Today/ESPN poll has the Hogs at No. 16, while Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball have the Razorbacks ranked No. 17 and No. 23, respectively.
Razorbacks Headed to Norman
FAYETTEVILLE – The No. 20 Arkansas Razorback baseball team earned its 22nd berth to the NCAA Championships on Monday morning, taking the No. 2 seed at the Norman Regional. The Hogs take on No. 3 seed Washington St. in the first round of the regional which begins on Friday, May 29, in Norman, Okla. The remaining two teams in the Norman Regional are No. 1 Oklahoma and No. 4 Wichita St.
HOOVER, Ala. – Mike Bolsinger threw four-plus innings of relief to lead the No. 20 Arkansas Razorback baseball team to an 8-5 victory over the No. 9 Florida Gators in the first round of the Southeastern Conference Championship Tournament on Wednesday morning in Hoover, Ala.
The Razorbacks face the winner of the No. 3 Ole Miss/No. 6 Georgia contest at 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 21.

With this late inning loss and the Cardinals game being postponed, my Friday evening turned to watching the Yankees and Mets games, which both teams won in late inning rallies.

Why the series is important: Having lost four out of its last five SEC series, Arkansas desperately needs a series win this weekend to stay in the mix for a regional host. The Rebels, though, were shocked by rival Mississippi State last weekend and must take at least two games from the Razorbacks to keep any national seed hopes alive. (via)
