Congrats to Smoltz, who is taking a job with TBS to join their broadcast team for the upcoming season.

Mike Puma of the New York Post is reporting that the Mets are close to a deal with utility man Fernando Tatis. Tatis would be brought back…
We are a bit more loveable… sorry New York.
…….
Are the players AND coaches in Boston just completely unobservant or really stupid? This seems ridiculous to me.
I don’t have a joke for any of this, but I felt compelled to say…
Are the Cardinals fans that ignorant that they assume this was the reason why Smoltz was awful against A.L batting lineups and dazzling against the Padres?
Check out his game log against Washington, Baltimore and Oakland. He was awful against those crap teams as well. Or is this an ‘AL is that much more superior’ joke?
Cardinals Bullpen Fixes John Smoltz In Five Minutes
Coaches noticed right away his foot was slipping off the pitching rubber, so they told him to stop doing that. Then starter Chris Carpenter noticed that Smoltz was tipping his pitches on the mound. So they told him to not do that either. The result? Five scoreless innings, no walks and nine strikeouts, including seven in a row. Was that so difficult?
Can someone get me an easy button over here??
John Smoltz talks with Adam Wainwright about his slider grip
this makes me very excited.
What I would give to be a fly on that wall. Wait… “what I wouldn’t give?”… how does it go again?
Pitcher John Smoltz agrees to deal with Cardinals
Smoltz holds the record for postseason wins. He is 15-4 with four saves and a 2.65 ERA in the playoffs and World Series.
As a starter, Smoltz has won 14 or more games 10 times, including 1996, when he won the NL Cy Young Award after going 24-8 with a 2.94 ERA for the Braves.
Installed as the closer after missing 2000 and most of 2001 following elbow surgery, he had 10 saves down the stretch in 2001 then 144 saves over the next three seasons — 55 in 2002, 45 in 2003 and 44 in 2004.
I used to bitch and moan about teams building a winning year Detroit Red Wings/NY Yankees style, (but with fewer dollars) instead of improving the players they had.
Blah, blah, blah…
Let’s go win a bunch of games.
