It’s that time again. For the last four years or so I have been in atleast one fantasy football league every season. The first year, right out of college, I studied rosters and charts and printed out pages and pages of numbers that meant nothing to me. I had never followed the NFL and as a new resident of New York, I figured it was the perfect time for me to become a fan.
I don’t remember how I ended up that season, but I enjoyed it. I watched more games on Sunday than I ever had, I had some idea of what that players name was and how the kicker for the Raiders was doing that season. Regardless, I still didn’t win our league.
The next year I think I got suckered into two different leagues and I don’t believe I paid any attention to either of them for very long. Yes, I would go in and set my weekly schedule, but the whole concept of trading, picking up new players - totally lost.
And here we are again, as you can see above I have 55 days until my live draft in a league of coworkers and ex-coworkers. I’m vowing now to put forth more effort than I did last year and actually pay attention to the season. I’ll openly admit to being a NCAA fan over the NFL and that isn’t going to change, but that doesn’t mean I can’t keep up.
And really it’s all about how awesome your team name is…
