Pulling away with a great early lead mostly due to Miami’s win against the Jets.

Why I Love College Football

Turn on the NFL game on CBS.

Now change to the NCAA game on ESPN.

Can you hear the difference?  Don’t even look at the screen, close your eyes and flip back and forth.  That difference makes me smile.

Beautiful.

I Really Don’t Even Like the NFL

I like football, but I really only watch NFL games so I can just watch football on Sundays.  I don’t have a ‘team’.  Blah blah, I think I’ve told you this before.

Well, tonight is ‘Rick Ankiel’s Mustache’ss’s’s” first fantasy draft of the season.  I’ve done it before, but stakes are a little higher this season.  No money, just bragging rights with a few people.*

Basically I have no clue what I’m doing, I’m most likely going to follow the preset rankings in NFL.com.  Honestly, I just want to talk some smack throughout the process and probably screw myself over moreso than I would if I set the thing to Auto.

It amazes how SERIOUS people take this game.  People are like professionals at this.  There are fantasy football analyzers that have actual desks and get paid salaries for this.  There is even a Deadcast analysis(That’s when you know it’s a big deal.)

Blows. My. Mind. But I’m going to partake in it anyway.  I’ll let you know how the draft goes and I’ll expect your critique and ridicule.

*Somehow an exboyfriend got involved in this league and I’ve made a huge deal of this all day and I have to keep up my overdramatic attitude for the next 3 hours.  I have to win.

I thought I should find a differing opinion on this topic. Click the link for the entire post.

You know that girl you keep breaking up with? At first, you start to miss her and do anything to get her back. So she takes you back, once maybe twice, but it’s never quite the same. Then after a couple of times, you just don’t care anymore. The very sight of her makes you nauseous. Her voice makes you want to jab a toothpick into your pupil and see what oozes out. You start to avoid her calls hoping she’ll eventually fade out of your life completely. You can’t believe you ever thought you loved her in the first place.

Brett Favre is that girl.

It’s that time again.  For the last four years or so I have been in atleast one fantasy football league every season.  The first year, right out of college, I studied rosters and charts and printed out pages and pages of numbers that meant nothing to me.  I had never followed the NFL and as a new resident of New York, I figured it was the perfect time for me to become a fan.
I don’t remember how I ended up that season, but I enjoyed it.  I watched more games on Sunday than I ever had, I had some idea of what that players name was and how the kicker for the Raiders was doing that season.  Regardless, I still didn’t win our league.
The next year I think I got suckered into two different leagues and I don’t believe I paid any attention to either of them for very long.  Yes, I would go in and set my weekly schedule, but the whole concept of trading, picking up new players - totally lost.
And here we are again, as you can see above I have 55 days until my live draft in a league of coworkers and ex-coworkers.  I’m vowing now to put forth more effort than I did last year and actually pay attention to the season.  I’ll openly admit to being a NCAA fan over the NFL and that isn’t going to change, but that doesn’t mean I can’t keep up.
And really it’s all about how awesome your team name is…
Go ‘Sarah Palin’s Moose’!
