FAYETTEVILLE - Mississippi State avoided a series sweep at Arkansas on Sunday but the Bulldogs will be without a starter for at least one upcoming game as a result.

And rightfully so.

Mississippi State Brent Brownlee was caught by TV cameras flipping off the crowd after the Bulldogs recorded the final out in the ninth inning. The junior had been playing in left field, where alcohol is permitted beyond the outfield wall. Not coincidentally, the crowd in the area is more vocal most games and had heckled Brownlee, like all other opposing left fielders, throughout the weekend.

Best fans in college baseball.

St. Louis, Busch Stadium and the St. Louis Cardinals are getting on board with Foursquare, but what the hell is Foursquare Day?

MLB AtBat 2010 video is looking really nice this season. I might have to break down and pay for MLB.TV.
I don’t even want to know how slick this would be on the iPad.

Update on the Biggest Sports Day of the Year*

Cardinals just lost to the Nationals which has freed me up to consider that there are other sports in life.  Also, it’s freed me up to flip through TV channels and decide what to watch next.

  • Capitals just beat the Penguins 3-2 (Game 1): I’ll be honest and say I haven’t paid any attention to hockey this season.  The playoffs are the perfect time to get into it again.
  • Mets and Phillies just started Game 2 of a 3 game series.  Phillies are already up by 1.
  • Tiger Woods is on the 11th at Quail Hollow.  I love watching golf but moreso on Sundays.  No leaderboard update because I have to switch channels before I fall asleep.
  • Alex and Simon are still creepy on The Real Housewives of New York… oh wait.  What?  I mean uh… damn.
  • Early coverage of the 135th Kentucky Derby has started.  The track is a muddy mess, jockeys will wear 8 pairs of goggles and I’m pulling for Papa Clem.
  • Boxing is on PPV later.
  • Game 7 of Bulls/Celtics starts at 8pm on TNT.  Overtime is likely, so please plan accordingly.

*…according to some people.  Personally, if you could throw in a March Madness game and the Cotton Bowl today, then yes, it could be the biggest sports day of the year.
